'Parenting usually happens by coercion, blind obedience, and love. The coercion comes in when your parents bully you into something. They say, "No allowance unless you clean your room."Obedience comes in when you do something simply because your parents tell you to. They might say, "Go outside see if the paper is here," and you do it for no other reason than that they told you to do it.Love comes in when you do something because you want to make your parents happy. Like, you could probably get away with not giving your mother a Mother's Day present, but you get one for her because you love her. You might do it even though there's no threat, no payment, and no direct order. You might just do it because you love her.' -Michael Simmons
